Calorie-Cutting Tips and Tricks
Spices are good for you and a great alternative to adding more sugar or flavorings.
Here’s a list of spices that make things taste “fall-ish”.
- Pumpkin Pie Spice (No not the Starbucks sauce! You can buy pumpkin spice in the spice aisle at the grocery! It’s actual spices!)
- All Spice
Add these spices to anything while baking or making smoothies or hot drinks to make them more flavorful without adding calories and processed ingredients!
Almond milk is such a great way to add flavor and cut calories!
1 serving of skim milk is 80-90 calories and that is SKIM milk. 1 serving of unsweetened vanilla Almond milk (my personal favorite is only 30 calories.
Almond milk has lots of flavor, trade it out when you go to a coffee shop to save some calories on your lattes!
You can really get creative here so here are some of my go-to additions for a fall flavored protein shake:
- Instant Coffee
- Any of the spices mentioned above!
- Cinnamon French Toast Protein Powder by 1up nutrition
- Snickerdoodle protein powder
Who doesn’t love a chai latte?! Have you heard the song by Angel Taylor? “I’m just dyin for chai tea latte” It’s one of my favorites!
This isn’t complicated…

Heat it up
This is a GREAT alternative to drinking coffee if you are trying to wean yourself and still enjoy warm drinks! Turmeric is very good for your health!
When I feel the need for a bedtime snack but I know I don’t need to eat more calories I
grab a mug and fill it with almond milk (unsweetened vanilla is – 30 calories/serving), I put a tea bag in it, and heat for 1 minute! Sometimes I add a dash of stevia for sweetness. This is a cozy and warm drink for those chilly or frigid days that won’t ruin your diet!

Turkey and Vegetable Soup
This is my own personal soup recipe and everyone that tries it LOVES it! This is pretty incredible because I’m not really much of a cook. But I am VERY proud of this recipe.
- 2 lbs Ground Turkey
- 2 bags of frozen mixed vegetables
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 1 box of beef broth
That’s it, folks. Brown the turkey, and put it all in either a crockpot or a soup pot and cook it!
